The NASA Headquarters Professional Association (NHPA) is a non-partisan, non-profit employees-based organization, run by and for current employees at NASA Headquarters (HQ). Our purpose is to ensure the employees at NASA HQ have a voice in the policies that impact our work and careers, as well as meeting NASA’s mission.
NHPA is currently made up of the non-management scientists and engineers at NASA HQ. In the near future, we are hopeful that our colleagues who also play a critical role at NASA HQ will be joining us, which include, but not limited to, analysts, attorneys, specialists, and secretaries.
NHPA has been an affiliate of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) since 1984, along with other NASA centers. Our IFPTE affiliate designation is IFPTE Local 9.
The International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE) is a non-profit, umbrella employee based organization, made up of autonomous local affiliates. IFPTE advocates on behalf of more than 80,000 women and men in professional and technical occupations.
IFPTE members are employed within the private, public, and federal sector, where they work as engineers, scientists, administrative law judges, analysts, attorneys, and other highly skilled professions.
Unique in representing highly educated and skilled women and men, IFPTE combines the strength of collective bargaining with the autonomy and specialization of a professional association. To learn more, visit www.ifpte.org.
